Programme Leader for BSc Criminology, Senior lecturer in Criminology

My professional background has been in front-line service provision working with the most vulnerable people. This includes working with statutory and third-sector organisations in social housing, homeless projects, community offender management, and family support within HMPPS. I am programme lead for the BSc in Criminology as well as a senior lecturer in Criminology where I embed my professional, research, and academic knowledge and experience into my teaching.

I am passionate about the inequalities experienced by women and marginalised groups. This underpins my research interests: violence against women, domestic violence, gender and inequalities within the CJS, offender management, emotionality in research and practice, and feminist research methodologies.

Teaching and supervision

I am programme lead for the BSc in Criminology as well as a senior lecturer on the programme.  I also teach at post graduate level on the MSc Leadership in Criminal Justice and Policing. My teaching is predominantly in criminal justice, offender management, violence, and abuse. I also supervise both undergraduate and MSc dissertation students within my specialist area. I also supervise MPhil and will consider potential PhD students.

Research interests for potential research students

My research interests are violence against women; domestic violence and abuse including, coercive and controlling behaviour; gender inequalities within the CJS,  offender management, rehabilitation and punishment and prison system.
