Lecturer in Medical Statistics
Before joining the School of Medicine as a Lecturer in Medical Statistics, I held teaching positions at both Durham University and the University of Sunderland. During this time, I gained experience delivering and coordinating a wide range of statistics and mathematics modules, from foundation to master's level.
My PhD in Medical Statistics, supervised by Professor Scott Wilkes, was funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a master's in Mathematical Biology from the University of York.

Research
My research interests focus on applying causal inference methods, including propensity score matching and inverse probability weighting, to observational data. I primarily conduct emulated target trials and cohort studies, comparing the results of these study designs to evaluate their consistency.
I am currently engaged in research focused on the prescribing of levothyroxine, in collaboration with Newcastle University, as well as modelling emergency department wait times in Scotland, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, a Member of the International Society for Computational Biology, an Academic Member of the Society for Academic Primary Care, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
