Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance

Prior to working in the higher education sector, I held various roles and positions in both the retail and energy sectors. On commencing my employment with the University of Sunderland in 2010, I have developed and taught a range of accounting and finance-based modules that are embedded across different courses. I am currently Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance (with Professional Exemptions), a role that encompasses having overarching responsibility for successful delivery and the evolution of module content within the course.

Teaching and supervision

I teach a range of accounting and finance based modules at undergraduate level. I am currently module leader for the following modules that are ran in the Business School:

  • UGB106 Introduction to Management Accounting
  • UGB223 Business Finance
  • MGT204 Corporate Finance and Portfolio Valuation
  • UGB392 Financial Management
  • UGB396 Financial Management (Professional)

Additionally I also act within a supervisory capacity to students studying both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations in the Business School.

Research

I am currently actively researching capital structure and its impact on firm performance from both a developed and developing capital market perspective.
